My last post Government by history instead of by law concludes by the idea that democracy is reduced to mere act of budgeting an otherwise autonomous government and that budget is from increasing debts.  Increased debts robs the future.

It only later occurred to me that I described something zombie-like.  The government is like a zombie but the zombie is the collective of the government instead of the undead body of a person.

The body retains the appearance of the original.  The behavior has changed and in particular no longer values the lives of those it previously respected.

The brain of the government is the constitution.  The brain of the citizen is the citizens’ autonomy and freedom.  The zombie can hunt down its prey with impressive effectiveness.  There is no place to hide, and no way to negotiate.

Our government is not there yet, but it is an interesting metaphor for where it is heading.
