Value may also be extracted from zero value men even if they are not individually detected. Using analysis of large datasets, we can estimate the prevalence of near-zero value men within certain populations. Using this data, we can predict what that segment of population in response to some action. For example, we have confidence that this man will unlikely rebel against some injustice because doing so will expose himself and likely his talents. Knowing the prevalence of near-zero value men allows governments to estimate the difficulties of implementing tyrannical actions.
Government is about the present, and we’re improving our government to maximize its attention on the present. Preparing for the future requires something other than government. Failing to prepare for the future will result in more impoverished conditions that will continue to be optimally managed by having nearly everyone having the same outcomes.
The events of recent months suggest that a government by only young voters could itself prevent the country from moving forward. In this case, the young are accepting an argument for immortality and it appears likely that they will bring this into our government. I don’t see any good coming from this objective. We cannot achieve immortality. Even if we could, the objective likely will distract our attention from other government priorities.
The freeze dance game is an analogy of what lock down subjects to young people. In that game, someone plays music that everyone enjoys dancing to. When everyone starts getting well into their dancing, someone stops the music and everyone must freeze in their position. Anyone who continues to move is taken out of the game, even if that movement involves catching ones balance. When translated to real life, it is most hazardous for the younger generations.
The continued obsession on COVID19 is shining a bright light on this very fundamental fact: we are asking the young to sacrifice their future calendars for the sole sake of preserving the future calendars of the retirement-age group. Eventually, that light will shine on the massive qualitative difference of those calendars.
The privileged panel insisted that the small business owner should be satisfied with the handouts from government. The overall image was repulsive. There was clearly a class divide on display: privileged people permitted full freedom to pursue their happiness are telling the unprivileged that they had no right to do likewise.
This vaccine will become the largest human experiment in history. Unlike science we were taught in school, this experiment has no control group, and the experiment will involve every living human in the country. If it succeeds fantastically, we will avoid the loss of a few hundred thousand frail elderly people over the course of a few years. If it fails, we may wipe out our civilization.
Maybe that is why I write this blog, I am anticipating my fantasy government will be my audience. It would learn about me and figure out where I might be useful. The current world mostly ignores me and I am absolutely fine with that. At the same time, I am writing here to announce to the world that I am here, in case it wants to use me.
My previous post outlines the ideas I have about a fantasy government of data and urgency as it relates to the COVID19 situation. Here, I want to contrast different approaches to governing.
The current government’s obsession over the absolute numbers ignores the fact that when this is over, these casualties will only be numbers. In the future, our government will have to contend with the remaining survivors. At that time, the survivors will judge the government’s wisdom in prioritizing dark data over the observations available to it.
