In the presumed post-scarcity world, we get the lifestyle without working, without any income. In the extreme, the only possibility for compensation for residual jobs is in some form of an investment. From our modern perspective where income is tied to consumption, income will not be a benefit from working. The future will be a post-income world.
At some point, we will need to replace our government. We have learned a lot over the past two centuries. We can build a government that takes advantage of post-enlightenment knowledge. In particular, the philosophy at the founding assumed that the future solutions will come from the current population with the luxury of wealth to finance their pursuits of solution. We now recognize that many of the most important solutions come from the consumer population who do not have that luxury. We learned that frequently the people currently with wealth stand in the way of future solutions.
The UBI future may be universal government employment but that government will be a data-driven government that replaces modern bureaucratic governments. Alternatively, the bureaucracies will be opened up to employ most of the population in the task of managing the data-driven government. Everyone will have an income because everyone will be employed as data workers in a dedomenocracy.
